Body contouring procedures

Body contouring surgery relates to procedures designed to remove excess skin and soft tissue in order to contour the shape of the body towards a more pleasing appearance. These procedures are commonly performed on patients who have lost a significant amount of weight. This can be due to various causes such as following pregnancy, or natural changes with age. Common areas that are operated on include the tummy, arms and thighs.

Liposuction is also a body contouring procedure. It involves the removal of fat through the use of a suction cannula but does not involve skin excision. Liposuction should not be seen as a substitute for weight loss through a healthy diet and exercise.

Prior to considering any body contouring procedures, it is useful to ensure that you are at the weight you desire and that it is stable. This will help minimise the risk of complications and give you the best possible cosmetic outcome.
